Just "A-MAIZE-ING"
Growing up in South Africa, you are bound to have come across a nice pot of mieliepap!! What is that you might ask? It is essentially maize meal, water and salt, cooked on the stove or in a dutch oven (or black pap pot) on a fire. There are all sorts of ways you can cook it, you can make it very runny, or very stiff, or even crumbly. You can add corn kernals, or flavourings. Some add mushrooms and cream. You can make a Pap tart which is cooked pap that is layered with all sorts of savoury food, topped with grated cheese and baked in the oven. One thing you have to know, there is no better brand than IWISA, if you want the true experience of South African pap (porridge) you have to buy Iwisa. Being able to buy this in the UK is bringing a little taste of home in to our house. And the kids love it!! (who doesn't love melted butter and sugar on top of porridge?!?!)So go on, give it a try! You will not be dissapointed.(disclaimer, I was not paid or asked to write this review!)
