Yes it washes out easily. I'm can't answer accurately about it 'damaging' fine hair.

Q: Did this have a peel back seal? Because mine came already opened so im just wondering? Once i flipped the cap the gel was visible there was no seal

I'm sorry it's been a while since I purchased it. Can'the remember. I just looked at mine & don't see any evidence of a seal. I think maybe it had plastic around the outer top that you have to break open.
