Works well for nighttime Gerd
I had break thru gerd at night just taking Gaviscon. I take this stuff, dry, no water before bed. Is it foamy and weird tasting? Yes, but it is well worth it. Best remedy I've tried in years.

It's worth a try.
I have ordered this product multiple times in the past few years since I discovered it. It has made a difference with night time acid reflux issues. I still sometimes wake in the middle of the night with issues even while taking this product, but overall, I have noticed an improvement. It foams up a lot when you chew the tablet, so I chew one tablet at a time and have some water close by beforehand so I am ready to drink a little water to wash down the foaminess. I also enjoy the flavor, and it doesn't have a funny aftertaste or give me cottonmouth in the morning.

Tastes Bad and Burns
This really tastes bad, it really does. And it causes a burning sensation, however briefly, inside my mouth while chewing. If the UK version of Gaviscon tablets don't taste bad, I am sure these did not have to taste so bad. Date first available at Amazon is listed as 2015...so, if the flavor hasn't changed by now, there's no hope it ever will. This product is also expensive if you need more than one dosage (which is two tablets) per day. 4 tablets per day for two meals would be about $45 per month. Because these chewable tablets foam up immediately in the mouth, I think they work faster than others for heartburn. So, if you can tolerate the flavor and can afford them, these might be worth a try.

It works just be careful the first time.
Have had issues with stomach acid in the esophagus and research brought me to the Esophageal Guardian. It does cost a bit more than what I'd like it to but so far it seems to work. The first time I took it I was not expecting the Alginic Acid to react so fast, it foamed up in my mouth and was hard to swallow. Since then, I have learned to do 1 tablet at a time (I still take 2 just 1 at a time) and I chew it as fast as I can to break it down and then I swallow it with help of water. Doing this method it's a lot easier to use. The taste is fine to me, tastes like berry flavoring. I should also mention the first time it felt really heavy in my stomach. Which apparently is normal the first time. it no longer feels heavy like it did. If you have stomach acid issues, I suggest at least giving it a try. Just keep in mind what I mentioned above that it reacts really fast so chew fast swallow fast 1 tablet at a time.

Works ok, wish there was more of some of the listed ingredients
I have suffered from acid reflux for many years. I don't feel comfortable taking PPIs forever so I started looking for alternatives. I learned about alginates and saw there were a few choices for sale here so I bought this, Nutritist Refluxly, and Reflux Gourmet. I liked this Esophageal Guardian but I felt like it didn't have enough strength. It worked for a while then my reflux stared coming back after around 2 hours. I noticed it only has 80 mg of Calcium while Gaviscon's UK formulation has around 3x this amount. Most of the research papers on alginates were based on Gaviscon, but unfortunately the US version is different than the UK version. The US version only has alginate as a filler and not as a main ingredient. Gavison UK version worked great for me, but I was lucky to have a relative visiting the UK bring me back a bottle. Its just too expensive here, also it had some ingredients I didn't like such as saccharin and preservatives. If I had to rank the alginate products in order of effectiveness I would rank them as Nutritist Refluxly/Gaviscon UK (tie), Reflux Gourmet, then lastly Esophageal Guardian.

Trust
I have acid reflux and nothing‘s been able to help even the antiacids. I have actually silent reflux. You don’t have heartburn what you have is too much acid coming up into the esophageal area and I use these to coat my esophageal tubes and keep the acid down in my stomach. It puts a barrier over the top of your stomach acid and doesn’t let them escape up into your throat they work thank you.

Seems to help esophagitis heal
Edited to add a few years later: This is a lifesaver for me to have on hand. I have learned that I have a hiatal hernia, and can get a flare up of GERD if I deviate from routine. When I have a flare up, my throat gets raw / sores and I need something to help it heal and keep the reflux at bay. This works perfect for me. I recently had to take some strong medicine and was ill for several days, which caused a nasty bout of GERD, reflux at night and awful sore throat / difficuty swallowing. Thankfully, I had a bottle on hand. Within a few days, I had it under control so I could stop the damage, and heal substantially using salt / baking soda rinses. Original: I've only been using this supplement for less than 2 weeks but so far, I have noticed a difference in my reflux and my esophagitis feels like it is healing. I recently had an uptick in LPR, it took me a while to figure out that it had come back. Unfortunately, it was bad enough to burn my throat and leave me with a sore throat. I have been chewing two tablets after dinner because if I get reflux, it's usually about 4 hours after dinner when I'm in bed. This supplement apparently lasts up to 4 hours, so it carries me through my "danger zone" time. The berry flavor is strong but it doesn't bother me.

Works for me, decent flavor
I've struggled with LPR for a couple years now, and when it flares up, I use this. I also use this if I've been eating something that triggers reflux for me (like spaghetti). The flavor is not bad (a little tart), but you have to absolutely be sure to CHEW IT THOROUGHLY for it to work. It will start creating a 'foam' in your mouth. That's the raft forming. It's not the most pleasant thing while you are chewing, but also not bad. Much better than throat burn! Swallow that down, usually right after a meal, and it will at least cut back on the reflux. I will tell you that I don't take it with a glass of water (as recommended). I find that seems to dilute it. If I take it after a meal, I've already had water with the food anyway. I've tried Gaviscon Advance (the stuff imported from the UK), and I think this works almost as well, while being cheaper per dose. It's also much more portable and discrete, which means I can take a couple tablets to work or on vacation.
