Boresnake® Viper with Den Rifle and T-Handle, Rifle Cleaners

Bought this to assist with cleaning my Ruger 10/22 and also my 5.56mm AR-15. It does a fantastic job on both! I have to admit, due to my idiocy, at first I didn’t realize the lid is a T-handle for the cord, and I could not pull the boresnake thru the barrel. I had the pull-string wrapped around my hand and it was impossible to pull. Then the little light bulb went off and I figured it out. Using the T-handle (be sure to wrap the string around the handle a few times, otherwise the string will be too long), it’s easy-peasy. I love this product and highly recommend it.

These are great. They work and last for years. I use ballistol. Spray that down the barrel and let it soak for a while then chase this down the barrel followed by some dry patches. Within a few pull throughs the barrel is shining like new. Use these in all my long guns and have for years. Easy to use and cleans really well. It also fits in your range bag easily.

The best product hoppe’s makes, I use this on my ar15 and it works very well can’t recommend it enough. Materials provide excellent cleaning power. Fits nice in your cleaning kit with its hard case.

I have used these for year's but this is the first Hoppe's I have tried. I was very surprised to see the detail they have taken with the quality of their product. Hands down it puts the others to shame. The handle inside the small box it comes in is extremely handy. The off brands I have do not have anything and if you have ever wrapped one around your hand, its not that comfortable. I purchased this one for a custom built rifle with a 28" barrel hoping the lead would be long enough, and it was and then some. I use a little Hoppe's solvent cleaner on the brush side followed buy Hoppe's Elite gun oil to the back and the bore was spotless! If you have multiple calibers, no worries, they even sew in a small tag at the end to indicate which caliber its for! PRO'S = Every aspect of this bore snake is spot on. CON'S = if you use any solvents, you may want to consider a small zip lock bag to put it in as the container has no seal and you will be dealing with odor.

Wasn't expecting this to be over twice the length of my Marlin1895 but I love how it has 3 sets of bronze brushes followed by the rest of the snake. It's the best thing I've seen for this rifles caliber (.45-70) because before I was stuck only using short .45 pistol brushes and those were annoying with the many times I'd have to run the brush through to get all the junk loose, then followed the many cloths needed to clean it out, meanwhile this bore snake effectively does the whole barrel in a few passes, now I spend far less time cleaning.

It's nice how easy it is to use a boresnake. The problem is the quality and how hard it is to clean the carbon off of this thing. I ran it 3 times brand new through my rifle and the material started to unravel. Cleaning it is either by handwashing it or throwing it in a laundry bag and putting it in the washer by itself. Handwashing it got most of the carbon off but it took a lot to get it to a place where I felt good to reuse it for the next cleaning. Is it better than using a rod and patch? I think so but how long before the snake has to be replaced is the question.
