People who have this on their kitchen counter tops, How does it react to heat? Will I be able to place a hot bowl, out of the microwave, on it?

No.. it will cause bubbling. I used this on my countertops and it also bubbles where my dishwasher heat rises up. I do not recommend this product at all. I was very disappointed. It is very hard to get it laid down flat without bubbles and don't dare put anything hot in direct contact. :(

Does this have hints of brown in it, or is it more black and gray?

It is brown. I don’t think any black there. Only different levels of browning.. really looks nice. Everyone confused because looks real Marble

I was advised to this product for its okay to put hot skillets on it, is it true?

NO. Our marble contact paper is made of vinyl that can withstand high temperatures of approximately 150 degrees Fahrenheit. When you place your hot pots/pans on the contact paper, it is best to arrange the thermal pads in advance to protect your contact paper.
