I was shocked to discover that the shoe is not made of leather. There is such a thing as "truth in advertising."

Avoid unless penniless... crappy material. Arrived with the front decorative strap retainer ripped at the top all the way across! Genuine leather today is thin lower layers of a hide mechanically processed and enhanced with faux finish. Sadly, they don’t have the strength, stability or durability of higher quality leathers so this gets compensated for in the manufacturing process by backing the material with cloth, paper or plastic to give it structure and support. It is 'treated' to make it look good for a while... and probably will with gentle wear unless ripped on arrival. I used to do leathercrafting so I will rescue this poor quality product for a season or two of the wear I intended because it is not worth further hassle. Go plastic at Walmart and save annoyance!
