has anyone compared this with the Yamaha YRS24B series ivory-colored models? Is this exactly the same, or different in feel and tone?

I teach a recorder class for high school students and we have about 20 models of the ivory recorders and about 15 of the colorful 20BG recorders. For whatever reason, the coloful models do seem to speak a little bit more easily, but both set the bar fairly high for plastic recorders-- way better than any of the other models we've purchased, including the more expensive brown and beige 302B Yamaha model (which looks great, but is quiet and does not hit the low notes as easily as this model.)

the description states it is made in the US, but what does the packaging say?

actually, on the bottom side, opposite of the first double tone hole, in tiny embossed letters it states "MADE IN INDONESIA". You might need a magnifying glass to see it clearly.

does it come with case

It comes with a cloth draw string bag.

The instrument is made in Indonesia and the little carrying bag case is made in India. Yamaha is a very durable brand.
