A great character-driven tale of suspense and hot romance
I just reread this book, I think for the third time. I originally read it when it first came out.I remembered the villain -no surprise - because he was definitely one of the most screwed up and ultra-violent characters I've ever read. But I'd forgotten the heroine and hero, Jaine and Sam.Reading this book now, it did seem dated. What really hit me was the way sexual harassment was tolerated and even expected by the female characters. We've come a long way, baby, without even realizing it!The first part of the story struck me as just too cutesy and forced. (SPOILER ALERT): But I liked that I didn't even realize the "drunkard" was the hero. Jaine came across as phony/adorable, like a bad sitcom character. But somewhere in there, the story took hold and the chemistry between Jaine and Sam exploded. Their interactions, dialogue and relationship sparkled with reality and life. The way they reacted to each other was super hot, believable and very amusing. The friendship of the four women was wonderfully described, and each woman was a distinct, visceral and unique character. It heightened the suspense of their endangerment from the deranged villain because I cared about each one. (SPOILER ALERT): It must be hard to be a writer having to create very likable characters that you then have to kill off. Horrible! The suspense and the police procedural part of the story didn't hold up because Sam (a detective) and his fellow cops had to be completely incompetent to miss the crucial key to the identity of the villain. But this is a keeper, even with the anachronisms and gaping holes of credibility. The characters carry this story, not the plot: the fiery romance, the sexual and verbal sparks between Jaine and Sam, Jaine's interactions with her three friends and her sister. And above all, the inner thoughts and actions of an unforgettable and horrifying villain!

Trademark Linda Howard suspense, romance and characters
Four friends, professional women, meet for drinks after work. The conversation leads to their requirements for the “perfect man,” which starts out reasonably, with faithful, reliable, and a great sense of humor at the top of their List, as it’s later dubbed. But as the drinks go down, and humor kicks in, their preferences get sexier and spicier. The List is leaked, only to go viral, first in their company newsletter, then in the media. Their embarrassment over the situation turns to fear when one of them is murdered. It becomes apparent someone has found the List offensive, and our heroine and police detective hero must figure out whodunit before they are all made to pay for their happy hour indiscretion. This was a one day read for me – great suspense, and fun, fun characters, both of whom have smart mouths and test each other at every turn. I really enjoyed it.

regardless of his good looks, and over-the-top sexy qualities
**Another outstanding romantic suspense by NYT bestselling author Linda Howard that leaves you right on the edge of your seat. It's a must read!............Trying to avoid her obnoxious neighbor was one thing but when he kept her up at all hours of the night, it was unforgivable as far as Jaine Bright was concerned. She had only one thought in mind, she wanted to kill him! As Jaine met her four closest friends on their weekly get together, she couldn't help but talk about the guy next door regardless of his outrageous good looks and over the top sinfully sexy body leaving all four women with a crazy idea. As a silly joke, the women decide to write a list naming all the unique qualities they expected in a man and entitled it, "Mr. Perfect" and found it not only hilarious, but they knew the joke was between them or so they thought. When word got out about the list, the women were mystified until they learned that one of them in their group told a reporter which led to national television. As Jaine tried to deal with what was happening, it wasn't long before she found herself once again arguing face-to-face with her good looking neighbor and suddenly found herself utterly attracted to the man. Detective Sam Donovan wanted to do two things as far as his cute neighbor was concerned one being wringing her neck for all the trouble she was worth and secondly, to pull her into his arms and make her his for life! When Sam and Jaine can no longer deny their attraction for each other from a distance, they bring it to the next level but not before Jaine's heart is ripped in two when it is soon discovered that one of her closest friend's from the list in which all four women created is violently murdered. When the killer strikes a second time, Sam takes every precaution to keep Jaine safe by keeping her at his house for her own safety but not safe enough as Jaine's whereabouts were finally revealed giving a cold sadistic killer the means and opportunity of what to do and where to go to find her while Sam races against the clock to save her. Will he get to her in time?.................great thriller by Miss Howard......thank you♡♡

Ridiculous premise for a book
4 friends suddenly get media attention for writing the most obvious Mr Perfect wishlist.... attracting the attention of a psychopath who is grossly offended by this wishlist. Now in steps Mr Perfect - the cop...... I dont think so. Really quite bad. Stay Away from this book....

All the making of a great story
This is a brilliant story and has to be one of 3 of my favourite Linda Howard books. Although this is a thriller, it reads like a chick lit with witty one liners from the main characters and a hot and fiery romance thrown in to the mix. The characters are likable and I found myself completely shocked at happening that were unexpected. The romance between the main man and woman is a lot like the two characters from `after the night' with the same passion. It is a lot more light hearted than `cry no more` which I also highly recommend. Enjoy!

It is not often I feel compelled to write a review of a book, but I have to say this is a book that hooks you from the start and you just cannot put it down ! Sam and Jaine are brilliant hero and heroine, they compliment each other so well, the humour they share with each other just hit the right note, and with the added bonus of a crazed killer after Jaine and her friends because of their "List" then you are in for a lovely read. I was sorry when I had finished the book, I was enjoying that much. Certainly a five star book for me!.

Mr Perfect ladies what can I say. If you are over 18 we have probably all done this, group of girls get together with too much lemonade... the rest is history as they say.A very good read, a one sitting read so be warned you do not want to start this if you have work in the morning.I recommend as a holiday read, or even for your book club I can gurantee you will have lots to talk about.
