Disappointing and Not What I Expected
This is a good cookbook, but certainly not what I expected. The majority of the recipes are NOT from the show, maybe from unaired seasons, but certainly few from the season advertised. When I read the title I expected recipes for all the technical challenges, and efforts by all the bakers for their challenges and show stoppers; it is not like that at all! Also, who ever did the production layout is not very good. Pale yellow, and similar color texts, do not make for an easy read. Even the basic text is a light grey which is very tiring on the eyes.On the positive side, regardless of the source, there are some excellent recipes, many of which I plan to attempt. It is too late for me as I have already purchased it. However, my recommendation is do not waste your money if you are expecting recipes from the show.

and loved ones. I love this show
I have made a few of the showstoppers and thoroughly impressed my friends, family, and loved ones. I love this show!!!I only wish standard measurements were more readily available with the metric ones. My current copy has been marked up on every recipe with the conversions now. I also noticed, if one of the recipes is demonstrated in the Masterclass, some (not all, not most) of the instructions in the masterclass dont line up with the book. Took a few attempts of those recipes to figure out which to follow, Masterclass or the book.

Beautiful book, recipes by contestants
Beautiful book, recipes by contestants. I love the show and love the recipes. Although other reviewers have commented on the need to convert, I'm not bothered by British terms for ingredients somewhat available in the US (black treacle is molasses). It's also easy to google measurement conversions or use your kitchen scale and switch measurements to "grams". However, Big note to the publisher- the light typeset on light backgrounds makes it impossible to read (like the first paragraph in the introduction- pale yellow on a white page- really?) Fortunately, all of the recipes are readable, but the type color makes this an irritating read.

Great photos, questionable recipes...
I love the stories and the connection to the show but I noticed that a lot of the recipes don't actually match what was made on the show. They still turn out but some of the tricks and hints that the hosts share on the show are missing from the book. The swiss roll is a good example, Mary's recipe is different from what was published. I still love the book and will likely get others.

This cookbook has gorgeous photos and the pages are very high quality! The thing I was most disappointed in was that it didn't include more recipes from the contestants and from Mary/Paul. That being said, the recipes it does have look very tasty! Final heads up: this is a British cookbook, which means that it doesn't have standard measures for volume of ingredients; it's solely by weight, so you'll need a kitchen scale! Also, be prepared to Google what the different ingredients are...things like caster sugar, black treacle, muscovado sugar, etc. (You think I would have known that, but it didn't occur to me at the time!) Overall, good purchase and good gift for fans of The Great British Bake Off!

Not every recipe is in here and honestly they can't be. I do find it interesting that the recipes here differ somewhat from what we are told in the "master class" episodes. it is a good cookbook and even has directions and term definitions for novices.

Fun to just browse through
Fun to just browse through. I enjoy to story lines and pictures. Have tried the "cheat sourdough" and it is delicious. Nice addition to the cookbook collection.

Love this show!
I wish there was a version with measurements in cups and Fahrenheit for temperatures. I don't often make something quickly spur of the moment because I know I have to spend a few minutes converting grams and mililitres to cups and ounces first.Other than that, I love the recipes and the show and it is fun to have the cookbook!

Recipes are easy to follow with helpful pictures too. Loving the variety of bakes.Side note: The seller did not disclose this as pre-owned so it's a bit dirty but the book is great :)

Try the poppyseed white bloomer bread - it's wonderful!
I'm liking this book. I've tried a few things; all have been exceptionally good. Try the poppyseed white bloomer bread; or, rather, try half of it. The full recipe overwhelmed my aging countertop mixer, so I had to knead by hand for the first time ever; it came out so well, I think I'll knead by hand from now on. The bread had a consistency I can only describe as creamy; it made the most fabulous French toast I've ever had. Other recipes have been very good, but this one stands out.I would give this five stars if it had more than the most perfunctory information on the contestants. I, too, would like more of the challenge recipes; I didn't mark down for that, though, because a lot of the recipes from all seasons are available on the BBC web site.
