Q: Why are these so leaky?

That is normal and has to do with the way balls are constructed with an inner bladder. Most inflatable balls will lose air slowly over time. Interestingly, the balls that don't lose air as much are ones with cheap synthetic bladders that don't have very good performance and feel. It is normal to have to top up balls with air before every use. We see the same behavior in balls from the $20 training ball to the $170 match ball.
