Q: What is inch dimension of male and female connector?

The male product adapter has an outside diameter of 1.298 in" and a length of 1.990 in". The female product adapter has an outside diameter of 1.288 in" and a length of 1.557 in".

Q: Do these operate the same as Gardena, as in you pull the collar back to release? Is it optional to use the locking mechanism?

Q: Why won’t water come out of my hose with quick connect attached? Twisting the mechanism has no effect.

The handle on the shut off on the hose needs to be parallel to the hose for it to be open if you are using an expandable hose. Also just check to make sure your hose nozzle is in an "on" position, and if the water is turned on to the spigot you are using, you should have water flow. The quick connect does not stop water from flowing. I use the quick connect to make it easier to change from one hose to another and it woks great.
