Q: Why do these knives start to rust after normal usage?

I read the reviews about that. When I purchased the knives I ran a couple through the dishwasher and did notice tiny rust spots. I hand washed them and dried them immediately. This seems to be the ticket. When they are used they are hand washed only and immediately dried. I have had no issues with rust since.

Q: Are the blades fully forged? I see that fully forged bolster is mentioned, but i'm not sure if that means that the blade is fully forged.

Description states STAMPED blades. Forged bolster.

Q: do ay of the sets have a black base

The ones with a black base are probably a different style of knife.
