Still the Best!
I purchased Scrabble to play with my sister and nephew aged 6, and all 3 of us absolutely love it! It's even more fun than I remember playing it at school, and as a child. If you're short of time but still want to play, just making words on the board and not counting the scores is also fun to do! It can be more rewarding, as you're more concerned with using your letters to make a good word, than fitting a high scoring word onto 'Triple Letter' squares! ;) Endless hours of entertainment, the 6 year old asks to play it when he comes round! I think the 'for 10 year olds' recommendation is very conservative, and younger kids will enjoy playing Scrabble alot. A very good learning tool also to expand vocabulary.

A Classic, with a plastic twist...
For the price, a bargain for a gaime that can educate, stimulate and be downright competitive. Bought for the family, and with an 8y-o keen to build words playing the game; also the scoring can help sharpening up maths, and learning about new words. Whether you play different 'house rules' for challenging or looking up words, it can certinly help broaden the mind. The set is not up there with the older versions with the nice tiles and wooden tile holders, though is certainly a good set considering the price, and length of use the set will get.

Scrabble - It's still a great game!
We bought this for my 26 yo daughter for Christmas and have played several games with her since. It's still a joy and an excellent mental workout and no chance that the batteries will run out before your concentration! The build quality is great although unlike the one I had as a child (40+ years ago), the pieces don't quite fill up the squares. Small detail and I may not even remember it correctly.

Honest review of what's in the box.
I was quite keen to buy the deluxe version of scrabble however the Amazon reviews completely put me off and instead I bought the standard version. The box came wrapped in cellophane and was well packaged so no damaged corners etc.The board is very good, it isn't flimsy or thin, it's quite solid and where the crease is in no way affects the enjoyment of the game. The lettered tiles are great, there is no chance or scratching the print off whatsoever. The 4 tile holders are perfectly satisfactory as well, made of a light plastic but by no means breakable or bendable.A bag is also included for you to keep all the letters in, it does have a print on it of the scrabble logo which i can see chipping/scratching away over time but it's a non issue. One thing I would love to see introduced is a lego like snap in place tile feature, I am aware that the deluxe version features this but it also has a lot of other things that I have no interest in.I thing a magnet effect would completely cheapen the board game but a feature that kept my tiles in place without changing the board game in any other way would be well appreciated.Otherwise, it's a brilliant item!

SCRABBLE ORIGINAL BOARDGAME
I find this a brilliant game. In fact I played this at the age of about 12 years of age onwards for several years. Now a grandmother at a much older age, it still has the same challenging theme and love playing with our family and grandchildren. So good for brain enhancement and very eductional and thought-provoking. Very good to have the Collins Ultimate Scrabble Dictionary and Wordlist to check words.

A great classic game
Bought this game over 10 years ago and we still play it once a while. We would love it more if there are more vowels so we don't run out of them quickly.

Not 'Original Scrabble'
My wife and I love Scrabble - and have played it since the 1960's. Our second set (1980 vintage) was showing signs of wear, (gave them to a family member) and so three years ago bought this 'original Scrabble' set. After 3 years the tiles are totally unreadable - the printing on the tiles having worn off. (Our earlier sets had the letters painted/printed into recesses in the tile surface.) Frankly, I wonder if it is fit for purpose!Have looked around for something like our 'original Scrabble' but even the deluxe version only seems to have a fancy board, not better tiles. Mattel & co should be ashamed of themselves.Mike D[PS no relation to another critical review of the same surname]
