How does it secure to the OBD port?

Hi John, vehicle OBD connectors have a protrusion for a clip to lock to when connecting a OBD scanner or other electrical device. This Port Lock is designed so that when it is installed on the OBD connector the Port Lock latches on to that protrusion preventing it from being removed. I have not been able to remove the port lock without breaking the vehicle OBD connector.

does everyone have the same keys?

Yes same key is shipped with all the units at this time. There are 290 million cars in the US and the chances of a thief having the correct key is extremely remote. Once installed on the OBD connector it is often difficult to even see what key is required to remove the unit forcing a thief to go to another vehicle. We are working with 2 vendors that will supply us with screws/keys that are custom made for a very limited number of units. We plan on providing the additional keys in the next 30-60 days at an additional cost ($10-$20) Pete
