I took the photo to show the physical size difference between a low cost but adequate 10x10 tarp, that leaks through the center seam.The Free Soldier tarp (10x13) is made of a heavier but a much more durable fabric. The seams are taped and the corner and all other attachment points are solidly sewed on.The tarp comes with 4 long cords and 4 slip line gizmos to tighten up the guy lines.I am looking forward to the additional 3 feet of coverage this tarp provides over my existing tarp (10×10).I especially like the more natural brown color that is less visible in the wild.I purchased this for better coverage for hammock camping.EDIT: 5/23/2025I set up the new tarp over the weekend. The fabric appears to be very durable and definitely waterproof with a taped center seam for waterproofing. The corner tabs seemed sufficient with plenty of tie offs for extra support. No crinkle sounds if windy. Brown color blends in with nature.

My family and I took this out for a desert camping trip. I was pleasantly surprised to find the drastic difference in temperature under this tarp. We had both a large tent and this tarp and during the day we definitely noticed the level of comfort we were able to aquire. Just bought this one last month and went back to purchase the larger option only to find it was no longer in stock (bummer).

The tarp seems to be pretty well made and sturdy. Comes with 4 of the paracord segments and stakes you need to set it up. If you wanted to do a traditional peaked shelter between two trees or poles you’d need 2 more cords to hold the peak in place. Not a huge knock considering this is industry standard with tents and shelters. The stakes are the kind I like and the paracord is good quality. The large logos are kind of a bummer aesthetically but at this price I don’t think it’s a huge deal. The only real downside is the stuff sack is just a touch small. If you don’t fold it perfectly it won’t fit in the bag. There are nicer tarps out there but I think for the price you can’t do much better than this. I’ll update my review once I’ve spent a few nights with it.

Tarp looks really sturdy and does not seem to weigh much. I got the 10x13 and i am still waiting for the 13x13 tarp to arrive. These are gonna be cool awnings for the Vermont XLP I am picking up .The price was really good as the ones that i was looking at were almost 200 for the same size as my large one. I got both the biggest ones they had for about 80 dollars. Will buy again. Also have the Green Elephant poles , pretty cool.

Took this out to Olympic National Park for three nights of camping (early April). It rained heavily and continuously all the second day and on/off the third day and this held up without issue, not a single drop of water getting through anywhere. It's got plenty of sturdy attachment points allowing for a variety of configurations depending on your needs/situation. Of all the recent camping related purchases I've made, this is definitely one of the better ones!
