So much fun and so much to learn and develop
This cutting set is so cute ( and worthwhile) - it all comes in a small sturdy, plastic basket with a handle and a lid (which is the removable cutting board). All the food is wood and each piece comes wrapped in tissue to preserve its condition. There is a great variety of fruit, vegetables, fish and meat as shown in the picture. This is great exposure to different types of food. Each piece of food is held together by Velcro which can be separated by using the included wooden “knife.” This is not sharp. We also use it with a little thinner wooden knife from another set and that works a little better at getting between the pieces to start the cut. The force applied to the food is what cuts it, not the sharpness of the knife in case you haven’t seen these types of sets before. How easy this is to do depends partly on how firmly you push the Velcro together on the pieces (so you can adjust it somewhat for differing ability levels). Watching my 2 yo grandson do this allowed me to see his fine motor skills develop right before my eyes. He also loves putting things in and out of containers and carrying things around so this is a winner for him in many ways. The basket is meant to be a shopping basket but we use it as sort of a picnic basket because of the checked cloth included. I am not an expert so make your own decision but it appears to me that the pieces of food even when cut are large enough not to be a choking hazard. I consider this a great little find - a toy they can enjoy and learn from in many ways for years. Plus since part of the play is putting everything in the basket - it encourages picking up (and the basket is a size that is easy to store). It is a simple toy but a win in my opinion. When I ordered it there was a coupon offered so you might look for one. I would definitely order again and would give as a gift.

High quality and it all can be stored in the basket. Love, love love!
I review a lot of toys, and I generally will give pros and cons. This time I'm just going to tell you what I love about these toys because there's nothing I don't love! They are very nice quality wooden toys with solid paint and vibrant colors. The velcro is awesome. The coloring on the inside of the food is darling- I like the tomato and apple the most. They even used yellow velcro for the yolk inside the egg.I love that the lid to the basket doubles as a cutting board. I love that everything stores conveniently in the basket for easy clean-up, and the basket is practical as part of the toy set. It's a great design, really.Plastic food sets are fine, but there is something about solid wooden toys that are a different level of classy. They have weight to them that I just really love. This food toy set did not disappoint. It's lovely, it's high quality, it's got those Montessori vibes, and I know my kids are going to love it when they get it for Christmas.

Cute - Toddler pleasing gift set
My kids LOVED a similar set when they were little. I got this for my nieces. This is a nicely packaged set. Each of the pieces are wrapped and ziplocked. The picnic basket has a cute cutting board/top. I love that design - kids can play and then pack it all up.Perfect for Toddlers. Versatile, durable and fun!!The food items are a satisfying wood material - easy to grip and hold. Vibrant colors are so fun. They attach and reattach with Velcro - so they may get stuck on cloth or rugs. That said - its a fun toy that will keep them busy for a long time!

Fun for kids who like to play with food.
Both my 5 year old son and 2 year old nephew love to play with these. The volcro is working well still even after several weeks of play. There is a good selection somewhat realistic fruit.

Good toy for toddler
My toddler is really interested in food and watching me prepare food. I'm able to give him the "knife" and the toy foods while I cook and he can act like he is cutting the food too. It's really cute and I love the picnic basket storage it comes with.

Making healthy food choices fun!
I ordered this product to add to my daughter’s play kitchen. I love that I can use this to helpteach healthy eating through play! She has a whole bunch of fruit, but no veggies or protein. This set is perfect. The food pieces are made of nice wood. They are each painted with beautiful detail. The Velcro is strong enough to keep the pieces together, but not too much that my daughter cannot cut the pieces with the wood play knife. This set is versatile with the basket and table cloth/blanket because she can pretend she is shopping for the food or we can pretend to go on a picnic. Hopefully over the winter we can practice so we can have a real one in the spring next year. The size of the basket is just right tofor everything inside and not too large or heavy for my daughter to carry on her own. The food pieces are also the perfect size for small hands at play. This set at this price is a bargain! The quality is that of any other name brand toy such as Melissa and Doug.

Kid and parent approved.
This wooden food picnic set comes packaged very well and everything is great quality. The basket holds everything for storage and pretend play. The food is well made as its painted nicely and the colors are great. I love that the food is wooden and will last with heavy play. The cutting option allows for learning and coordination. Very functional toy that is great for pretend play and enrichment.

So fun and practical
I've been getting really into the idea of practical toys that teach my baby life skills. This cutting set has been so fun! We get to do vocab on colors, the different foods, the implements, and he also gets to practice his motor skills and "help" me in the kitchen while I'm cooking. He loves it and so do I!
