We removed the string. Word to the wise, don't shake the bubbles and try to avoid pushing the wand in more times than necessary. Doing so makes the bubbles get too foamy and won't work. But otherwise, these are great for kids!

These were the 3 colors ours came in as well. We have a 2 and a 6 year old boy. They were just excited they got to hold their own container that didn't spill all over, no mention of the colors.

The mini size is small... holds an ounce, I think. The refill is 2 ounces and is enough to fill it twice.
