Yes, this is a white pigment which makes dark foundation lighter.

Q: Does this lighten the foundation shade?

No, it will take away the warmth eg yellow to a more neutral tone. If you want to lighten your foundation shade they do a white version that does this.

Q: Does this make the foundation separate at all or does it mix well?

It mixes in well. And you don’t need much. The only downside Iv noticed is that it make the foundation abit oily, so It can come off abit easier than normal.
